Youth of Bharat should serve at the Grassroots”, says Former President Ramnath Kovind

New Delhi : On the occasion of National Youth Day, Former President Sh. Ramnath Kovind has called on the Youth of Bharat to act as the next generation of problem solvers for Viksit Bharat and serve at the Grassroots towards the development of our nation.
The former President was speaking on the occasion of the launch of the Sewa Fellowship Program (2024-26) on the auspicious occasion of National Youth Day, a celebration of the birthday of Swami Vivekananda.
Former President Sh. Ram Nath Kovind stated that “even in today’s era, Swami Vivekananda remains an ensuring ideal for the youth. His inspiration and philosophy continue to be relevant in the current exemplary times”. While explaining the concepts of Swami Vivekanand, Kovind emphasized that development and spirituality complement each other immensely, rather than contradicting each other. In a nod to the enduring impact of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, he also highlighted that today’s youth draw inspiration from his principles of selfless service, a spirit of service, and spiritual advancement. He believes that these values are instrumental in shaping the character of the youth in the 21st century.
On the occasion, Shyam Parande (International Coordinator, Sewa International) emphasized the vital role of India’s spiritual heritage in the developmental process. He stated that “development will only be possible when the spiritual aspect of development is considered”. The Sewa Fellowship program aligns with the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda, empowering young leaders and inspiring them to contribute to Bharat’s development with development projects across 20+ states of Bharat. “Every year, more than 3000 youth apply to the Sewa Fellowship program and a select group of 30 young people are selected to join, showcasing their commitment to addressing grassroots problems across Bharat,” asserted Kumar Subham (Director, Sewa Fellowship).
The Sewa Fellowship Program serves as a platform for young leaders to actively resolve social challenges throughout the country, reflecting the spirit of service and self-realization propagated by Swami Vivekananda. Ramnath Kovind Ji also gave a call to all youth to live a life of Purity, Purpose and Perseverance as guided by Swami Vivekananda. Former President Kovind’s endorsement of Swami Vivekananda’s enduring influence and the launch of the Sewa Fellowship Program marks a significant milestone in fostering the ideals of selfless service and spiritual advancement among the youth, ensuring a brighter future for Bharat.
