‘Dakshayajna’, ‘Shankardev’, and ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ staged on Penultimate Day of 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2023

# The Guwahati, Ranchi, and Jammu leg of the 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav concluded with the play ‘The Priestess’, ‘Ratinath Ki Chachi’, and ‘Satyabhan Savitri (Nautanki)’ directed by Ningthouji Deepak, Sharda Singh, and Umesh Chandra Sharma, respectively.
# The Delhi, Rajahmundry, and Nashik leg of the 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2023 will be concluding tomorrow.
The 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2023, organized by National School of Drama, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, hosted three classic plays on the 9th day of the theatre festival in New Delhi. Following the allied events segment, a ‘Director’s Meet’ session was scheduled with the director of ‘Ek Manch Ek Jivan’, Soumitra Mitra, director of ‘The Dice of Desire’, Ramanjeet Kaur, director of ‘Jugi Triyao’, Jeetrai Hansda and actors of ‘Isi Din Isi Waqt’, Prasad Mali, Surbhi Barbe, and Anuj Prabhu.
An interface session with the NSD alumnus and noted actor Shri Rajesh Tailang and Shri Ajit Singh Palawat was organized today at the NSD premises, Delhi that was streamed live on the YouTube channel of NSD. It was moderated by Shri Asif Ali, Visiting Faculty, NSD. This engaging session on theatre and acting was followed by questions by the audience and mediapersons.
A Hindi play, ‘Shankardev’ was staged at the LTG Auditorium, New Delhi. It was directed by Bhaskar Boruah, an actor, trainer, and theatre practitioner. He graduated from National school of Drama in 2015, Batch, with specialization in acting.
The play, ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’ was staged at the Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi. It provides a profound insight into how to have fun as you get older. It was directed by Suresh Bharadwaj, an alumnus of National School of Drama.
A Kannada play, ‘Dakshayajna’ was a popular traditional story from Bhagavata Purana. It was directed by Keremane Shivananda Hegde, a versatile performer, choreographer, guru, and cultural organizer.
Plays like ‘Apki Amri’, directed by Shekhar Dattatray Naik, ‘Hai Mera Dil’, directed by Dinesh Thakur, and ‘Shmashana Kurukshetram’, directed by Savitha Byrappa were staged at Kevadia, Nashik, and Rajahmundry, respectively.
On February 23, 2023, the 22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav will commence in Srinagar.
