PRIME MINISTER TO INAUGURATE MULTI-STORIED MPs’ FLAT AT DR. B.D. MARG
New Delhi : Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will inaugurate 76 newly constructed Multi-storied flats at Dr. B.D.Marg, New Delhi on 23 November 2020 via Video Conferencing in the august presence of
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Shri Prahlad Joshi, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Chairperson, House Committee, Lok Sabha, Chairperson Sh C R Patil ,Members of Parliament and other dignitaries will also grace the occasion.
It is informed that the earstwhile bungalows at Dr. B.D. Marg were very old ,lacking in modern amenities and were attracting high maintenance cost. To overcome the shortage of accommodations for Hon’ble Members of Parliament, need of redevelopment of Dr. B.D. Marg was felt necessary.
These multi-storied flats were constructed after demolition of 08 existing bungalows.
The Foundation Stone of the project was laid on 07 February 2018. The expenditure incurred comes to about Rs. 188 crores as against the estimated sanctioned amount of Rs. 218 crores.
These 76 multi-stored flats have been constructed in three Towers named as ‘Ganga’, ‘Yamuna’ and ‘Saraswati’. Each Tower consists of 13 Floors with 2 flats on each floor with common terrace garden at the top.
With the concerted and consistent persuasion of Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla; House Committee, Lok Sabha and dedicated efforts of the Ministry Housing & Urban Affairs and CPWD and other agencies involved in the process including Lok Sabha Secretariat, the construction of these flats has been completed despite many odds i.e. imposition of ban on construction activities by NGT and COVID-19 situation.
Several green building initiatives have been incorporated in the construction, including bricks made from fly ash and construction and demolition waste, double glazed windows for thermal insulation and energy efficiency, energy efficient LED light fittings, occupancy based sensors for light control, air conditioners with VRV system for low power consumption, low flow fixtures for conservation of water, rainwater harvesting system and rooftop solar plant.
These houses will be close to Parliament and facilitate Hon’ble Members of Parliament.
